Informix Logocal Logs
Posted in 2005
A user asked whether any tool exists to read Informix logical log files, or whether one could write a C program to parse them. Several replies pointed to the bundled onlog utility, which is documented and dumps logical log records. One poster recalled writing a custom C parser years ago for Standard Engine, but others countered that doing so against modern log formats would be "practically impossible." An IBM engineer asked what the underlying goal was, but the original poster never replied, so no further resolution is recorded beyond the onlog suggestion.

Informix ships with a utility called onlog -- it's
in the documentation.

I didn't realize practicality was a consideration. -----Original Message----- From: Obnoxio The Clown [mailto:obnoxio@serendipita.com] Sent: Friday, July 01, 2005 9:52 AM To: Danny Wright Cc: ids@iiug.org Subject: RE: Informix Logocal Logs [5331] Danny Wright said: > > I once wrote a C program to parse the logs for an old Standard Engine > version of Informix. > > I imagine you could still do it, although it's probably a little trickier > now.
