Hi Piotr,
There is a solution for thIS problem (VB/ADO/OLEDB/decimal).
In case of OLEDB we can give decasr8=3D1 through extended property.
Please add the following extended property to the connection string.
Extended Properties=3D'decasr8=3D1'
Then the connection string may look like this
ConnectionString =3D "Provider=3DIfxoledbc;Password=3Dinfo123;Persist S=
ecurity
Info=3DTrue;User ID=3Dinformix;Data Source=3Dnic@ol_evo;Extended Proper=
ties=3D'';
Extended Properties=3D'decasr8=3D1'"

Hi Satyan,
While testing our software, we have ancountered another problem.
I think this is connected with VB/ADO/OLEDB/decimal handling problems.
We have quite sophisticated piece of SQL code which agregates some deci=
mal
columns and pack them in a temp table. Then in VB we are retriving valu=
es
from this table.
And we recive an error saying "Multiple-step operation generated errors=
.
Check each status value"
I have reduced the problem to simple form and now the extracted SQL loo=
ks
like:
CREATE TEMP TABLE xx (col1 DECIMAL);
INSERT INTO xx VALUES (100);SELECT sum(col1) FROM xx;
While using ODBC connection the errro can be avioded by setting extende=
d
property
'Describe Decimal Floating Point As SQL_REAL/SQL_DOUBLE'.
But in OLEDB connect string we cannot set this property...
And again - the problem disapears when seting CursorLocation property t=
o
'adUseServer'...

Hi Piotrek,
Thanks Very Much for sending the reproduction material.
I tested it with the latest Client SDK (2.90 TC1) that is currently on
beta,
I could not reproduce the problem.
Since you have run it against Client SDK 2.81 TC2, I will try to reprod=
uce
this by installing exactly the same version
what you were using it and also setting all the environment you have
specified.
I will do this testing tomorrow and give you the feedback.
I already log a bug against the product, and get the fix scheduled for =
the
current release.
If I could reproduce the problem, then the coming release of Client SDK=
2.90
(schedule to be next quarter) will have the fix.
We really appreciate your help.
