I want use onautovop for implementing continuous backup. I've created disk volume set "l" with device=ARC_VOP and typed backup command as informix user: BACKUP/LOGFILE/CONTINUOUS/EXPIRY_DATE=1/NOTIFY/VSET=l When i execute request from onarchive, log files succesfully backup. But if i use onautovop log files remains unbackuped, onautovop don't terminates, mails to informix from autovop don't arrive, backup request change its status from NEW to EXECUTING and back sequentially. Any opinions? Sorry for my English Andrew Svikhnushin Inist Ltd -- EMail: san@inist.ru

We chose to do continuous backup from the onarchive prompt.
This code:
<snip>
fork && exit; # Parent exit
setpgrp(0,$$); # Attach to process 1
# Child process start
system("export INFORMIXDIR=/informix/$ver &&
export ONCONFIG=onconfig.$sid &&
export INFORMIXSERVER=on_local_$sid && export TCL_LIBRARY=/usr/local/tcl/library &&
/usr/local/expect/expect /informix/onlog/startonlog.exp $sid
$ver");
$rc = 1 if $? > 1;
exit ($rc);
drives this module:
set vset [lindex $argv 0]_log_disk
set ver [lindex $argv 1]
set timeout -1
spawn /informix/$ver/bin/onarchive
expect "Onarchive>"
send "backup/logfile/continuous/vset=$vset\\r"
expect -re "Request (.*) register*"
send "execute/request=$expect_out(1,string)\\r"
expect {
"*data to archive*" {
exit 0
}
"*A Log backup is already in progress*" {
exit 1
}
"*cataloger is dead*" {
exit 1
}
"*Communication to cataloger not open*" {
exit 1
}
}
exit 0
Anyway, I hope this will be of help.
