Beginner: What is Sqlhosts good for ?

Hello, in our department we got the informix database, and I has to deal with it. (Programming in perl/DBI/DBD). Though I looked through all manuals we got, I cannot find a specification regarding the /etc/Sqlhosts file. What is it good for ? Besides, our database was a gift, and we have only illustra manuals (but with informix logos). Thanks in advance, Benedikt Berger
