The fact that you are running bcheck gives a clue that you must be using
the SE database engine. Which version? Type bcheck -V to find out.
Reproducing the output of finderr (version 7.12) for the errors you
report:
-226 Cannot create index for system catalog table-name.
The database server (which is not OnLine) is trying to create
one of the tables that comprise the system catalog, probably
as part of a CREATE DATABASE statement. It created the
table but some problem with the host operating system
prevents it from making an index. Check the accompanying
ISAM error code for more information and look foroperating system error messages. The most likely cause is a
shortage of disk space.
Message number -4996 not found.
-82851 is outside the range of documented messages.
-4128 Handler should be a member of either the same class, or else
a base class, of the object.
The indicated handler is declared in the program, but is not
a member of same class as the object, or of a base class from
which the object is derived.
(This is a NewEra message.)
Some of these error numbers may have changed since your version.
I'd investigate the first message. As it says, check disk space.
Permissions might be a problem but less likely. Is the problem table a
particularly big one?
I have no idea whether SCO Unix is compatible with ATT Unix. Informix
might take the view that you were violating the terms of your license by
moving to another operating system and hardware. You might take the view
that you are still using the same product you originally bought and that
the way you use it is up to you.
A better solution might be to upgrade to a newer version of the database
engine and 4GL. I suspect support has long since lapsed for versions as
old as this.
