Re: Lost link: Mac/Hp(Informix)

I read quickly your question about your pb. I can PERHPAS help you, but I can't affirm that for the time being. Is it possible for you to give more details about your exact configuration. For instance, your wrote: << The HP server, through an appropriate application, searches DB Informix for the requested advert and answers back via TCP/IP that it is either OK or KO, i.e. >> Who send the request to the HP server (a Mac Application, or a server application developped in L4G) ? << 2) OK if the advert can be processed. In the latter case, prior to the answer, all files required to create/amend the advert are extracted from the Informix DB and stored in a folder of the shared EtherShare disc. >> I think that it could be (perhaps) more easy for you to download directly the files you request directly on the Mac, instead of moving them first in a share directory on the HP and afterwards using them from the Mac application But my questions are perhaps stupid because I don't know exactly your configuration. Would you appreciate a solution that could provide you the possibility to connect directly your Xpress application to your Informix and Unix server ? without being forced to use the AppleEvent (that according to me are very very slow) Imagine that you could have an access to all of the possibilties provided by your Informix database (select, update, grant, ...) and Unix system (read, write, ls, ps, ...) But first I need to get more details about your configuration You wrote: << 1) WorkFlow (developed by ILTE) >> What is the langage used to developp this application (C, 4D, Omnis, *) For us, AppleEvent are just for fun, not for work (too slow). We prefer direct connecion instead of using configuration like yours which is to complicated. (using an intermediate application like your workflow application seems to be a heavy method). But first of all, tell me more about your config --->> On our site a SHAREWARE SQL Query Tool <<------- --->> & a middleware much faster than SQL*Net <<------- Frederic BOUQUET Client/Server & SQL RDBMS email: fbouquet@cornut.fr http://www.cornut.fr/
