national characters-Online V6 - V.7

Has anyone some experience with national letters entering as a data into the columns of tables ( in Online V 7.11 UC1) insert into table aaa values ("char. with national chars")we do not have such a problems while running in V6.01UE1 insert statement is forcing from client - Gupta Sql Windows and informix returns error mess. -202 Illegal character....
