Slow viewpoint query

I have a question regarding general speed of queries using Viewpoint. My customer performs a query on their Sun Sparc 10 using ISQL to a local online database and it takes 3 minutes. They perform the same query using Microsoft Quick Access on DOS, to the same database on the SUN, and it takes approximately the same amount of time as the query from ISQL. When they perform the query using Viewpoint on DOS to the same database on the SUN it takes 10 minutes. They are wondering if this is typical of Viewpoint in general. Since my experience with Viewpoint is real limited, I thought I would ask the more experienced Viewpoint users for their views. Thanks for reading this far.
