Re: Update or new installation

Guten Tag, Andre. At our site, we moved from 7.24 to 7.30 with no difficulties. In our case, we installed the 7.30 product into a new directory, and copied the config files over (onconfig, sqlhosts, etc.) from our 7.24 directory structure to our 7.30 directory structure. We then downed the engine using the 7.24 executables, changed the necessary environmental variables, and then brought the engine up using the 7.30 executables. After a few short moments of updating some disk structures, it worked fine. We even tested reversion (going back from 7.30 to 7.24) and this also worked fine. I would definitely suggest testing it in a small test environment prior to doing this against production, however! And test it both ways, in case 7.30 introduces some production problems that require you to revert back. This didn't happen for us, but it was nice to know that we could, had we needed to. Tchus! (No umlaut, drat!) Hope this helps, - Tom Girsch Andre R. wrote in message <365ACF6A.7392@zhv.rwth-aachen.de>... >Hi, > >i have running a Informix Online Dynamic Server, Version 7.22.
