Server not running after reboot
Posted in 2011
Hernando Duque's Informix Developer Edition 11.70 on Windows Vista stopped responding after a reboot, with error 908 from dbaccess. Art Kagel said to set the IBM Informix Dynamic Server Message Service and the Informix IDS server service to Automatic startup in Windows Services and start them manually once. Obnoxio The Clown gave the same advice. The original poster did not reply in the thread.

Hi to all,
After installing the Informix Developer Edition on a Windows Vista PC I've
configured the server as requested and it was running fine. From within
dbaccess I've created and populated several databases.
But after rebooting de PC the service seems like if it is not starting. ILogin
is not conecting any more. I've double checked environment variables:
INFORMIXDIR=C:\\\\PROGRA~1\\\\IBM\\\\Informix\\\\11.70REGMACHINE=\\\\\\\\MYPCNAME
INFORMIXSERVER=ol_informix1170
ONCONFIG=onconfig.ol_informix1170
PATH=C:\\\\PROGRA~1\\\\IBM\\\\Informix\\\\11.70\\\\bin-.-.-.etc
When I try to connect to ol_informix1170 server from whithn dbaccess I get 908
error.
What am I doing wrong?
Any help will be apreciated.
Hernando.
Go into the Windows Control Panel, select "Administrative Tools" then select
"Services" from there. Find the following IBM Informix services:
- IBM Informix Dynamic Server Message Service
- Informix IDS - <servername>
Mark both services for "Automatic" startup and manually start them
initially. After that you should be able to shutdown an reboot and the
server will be automatically online.
