You may be able to write a triggered stored procedure to maintain it. Otherwise you will have to include its maintenance in every program that updates the table. We have had to do this as we require more than simply case insensitivity (we do phonetic search). For the Informix wish-list: A more powerfull SPL that could do full character handling. Implementation of the NewEra language (as far as possible) would be the ideal. Of course we also regard it as self evident that it should have been possible to call C/C++ functions from the SPL (realizing the dangers!). Obviously these would have had to be compiled into a DLL so no linking of new "runners" would be neccessary. Any comments appreciated. Particularly from Informix.
