I prefer to use the same solution that is found in Oracle databases (see
I can find something useful from the O-world). All my databases have
a table called "dummy" with one field and only one row in it. Then, whenever
I want to get a user name, time, etc, I can do a :
SELECT user from dummy;or SELECT current from dummy;
etc.
Why depend on someone/something else when you can control it yourself?
