I'm not sure what tbmonitor did or does, but onmonitor is a menu based
utility that lets you do quite a few things. Rule of thumb to use when
you migrate from SE to Online is substitue the DB (or TB) in the utilities
to on (e.g. tbmonitor - onmonitor, etc.), except dbaccess :-)
ontape is the most primitive archiving tool, use onbar if you could.

In online, if your instance is running, you'll see a bunch of oninit processes.
All you have to do is set the correct environment variables (INFORMIXSERVER,
etc.), open the TCP/IP ports in a network environment, and you're all set. This
is due to the fact that Online is multi-threaded while SE was not (so every time
an user connected to the engine, it started an sqlexec process).
Good Luck,
