Help please
I am tring to drop database but cant do it get following message
drop database test0111
311: Cannot open system catalog (systables).
135: ISAM error: TBLspace does not exist
I had accidentlty removed the dbspace from the system ,we are using cooked
files .this database is in which I guess has caused the problem. I then
dropped it .I added space on again
how can I drop the db ?
If I restored dbpace that was dropped would this help ?
Or is it too late for that?
What is the syntax to restore dbpace only using ontape ?
You cannot restore a single dbspace using ontape. You have a small number
of choices:
- Call IBM and ask them nicely if they will drop the database for you.
Since 9.40 is out-of-support, they are not likely to agree to do that unless
you have extended support since it went out-of-support almost two years ago.
- Try restoring the archive to another machine then shutdown the
instance, manually copy the first chunk of the missing dbspace from the
other machine to this one, bring the engine up, drop the database and
anything else that resides in there, then drop the dbspace properly. This
MIGHT work. I'd try the next one first (at least the export part).
- Export all of the other databases, reinitialize the server from scratch
(oninit -i), rebuild it, reload all of the databases.
- BTW, you should be able to extract the missing database from the
archive you have using archecker, so you may be able to recover that one
also, at least to the point that the archive was taken.
Finally, you REALLY should upgrade to a supported version. The current
version is 11.70.xC2

Actually you can restore a single dbspace with ontape.
ontape -r -D dbspace1
You will be required to replay all logical log files from the
backup until the current point in time.

thanks for ideas people. I know this version out of support. The business do not want to pay for support ! Silly i know . This database Has spatial data which makes it more complicated. This is a test system so they have decided not to worry about this database. I take it the you cant just remove the entry from table sysdatabases in sysmaster database name test0111 partnum 22021152 owner test0111 created 06/05/2011 is_logging 1 is_buff_log 1 is_ansi 0 is_nls 0 flags 4099
No, it's not a real table, just a window into the database tablespace pages on disk. Art Art S.
