Re: Informix 408 Error

The 408 error in INFORMIX is one of the most difficult to solve. The problem is caused when you send an SQL statement from the front-end to a defunct back-end. What you need to establish is why the back-end is defunct. It normally involves looking at the previous SQL statement issued by the front-end. If you turn on SET EXPLAIN you can see the SQL statements received by the engine. This might help you to identify which was the last statement processed. Then check the synatx of this statement very thoroughly. From past experience you will probably find that the SQL statement causing the engine to die works perfectly well when executed on it's own. If you do identify the failing SQL statement please publish so that we can all see why it happened. Malcolm Weallans Online Database Consultancy Phone 01628-72154 Fax 01628-37463 CIX - onlinedbc
