Now one problem we have is that our code is compiled for use either on a remote machine or a local machine. Thus it specifies the network interface name of the database host. Our NETSTAT shows that we have a WHACK of host->online online->host connections, although network traffic doesn't really seem to have increased. I am considering seeing if aliasing the host name to the loopback address might help. Also might bring our system crashing to its knees....FUN! : We use 4.x tools with 7.x engine using this method. We tried the relay : module, but it was : incredibly slow and a resource hog, to the point of being unusable. : Obviously, a shared memory : connection is going to be the fastest. I believe we are NOT using the relay module. Our upgrade was to the latest tools, the latest server etc, all at the same time...(Whooo boy..fun!) Stupidly enough, the guys who did the port to DGUX decided NOT to include the ability to use the shared memory - it's in the machine notes :( : For example, are you using an app compiled with I4GL 4.11 : connecting to an engine verion 7.12? If so, you have to use the : relay module and will see a slowdown. Is there something that would indicate the relay module being used?
