Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Kate asked how to connect to a data source from an ESQL/C program on Linux. Mike Aubury asked if it was an ODBC data source, and Kate confirmed. Richard Spitz replied that ODBC connections have nothing to do with ESQL/C and need ODBC functions, libraries and drivers in a plain C program. ESQL/C can be added only if that works first.

The heading says it all!
I need to connect to a datasource from an esqlc program running on a
Linux box. The dataSOURCE is on the same box.
Thanks in advance,
Kate

Connecting to an ODBC datasource from within a C program has nothing to
do with ESQL/C. You need the appropriate ODBC functions in your C program
and the proper ODBC libraries and database drivers for you Linux box.
If and only if you can connect to your ODBC datasource from an ordinary
C program on your Linux box, you can add ESQL/C functionality to your
program to connect to an Informix database.
