Install Guide for IDS 9.4?

Hi everyone. This may sound like an odd question, I know. I just am getting some contradictory info from Informix support. I need to uprade an existing IDS 9.4 FCX21 server to IDS 9.4 FC9 on an AIX 5.2 box. The actual install instructions....is everything I need to EXECUTE in the Informix Installation Guide for Unix and Linux? I know I need to read through the machine notes and also the documentation notes but what I am asking is basically....in order to do the install of the IDS 9.4 FC9 software are all the steps I need to follow in the Installation Guide for Unix and Linux? I have been reading through the Migration Guide for 9.4 also but there does not seem to be any information on actually installing the Information 9.4 software. Maybe I am missing something? I just want to be sure I understand the process and read eveything I need to to. Thanks

Installation for an upgrade in place is easy. Just set INFORMIXDIR to the NEW install directory and run install.server. When the install completes, shutdown the existing engine, copy the sqlhosts and ONCONFIG files to the 9.4FC9 new install directory, set INFORMIXDIR to point to the new directory, or relink the original INFORMIXDIR path to point to the new installation (possibly renaming the earlier install dir), set your path to the $INFORMIXDIR/bin, and start the new engine up. The new server will take care of any physical modifications to the existing database. The only thing left to do is to run UPDATE STATISTICS LOW... DROP DISTRIBUTIONS for all of your tables/databases, recreate the distributions using the new engine (see the Performance Guide section on UPDATE STATISTICS) and recompile all of your SPL stored procedures (UPDATE STATISTICS FOR PROCEDURE/FUNCTION .....;) Art On Sun, Sep 28, 2008 at 9:22 PM, WILL LANDSTROM <willlandstrom@yahoo.com>wrote: > Hi everyone.
