Hi Is it possible to restore a dbspace[data and index] from Level-0 backup onto the some other system. Any suggestions? Muhammad Usman musman@iffco.com Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
Yes it is possible.
I have done this successfully on a UNIX system with onbar and networker. But
there was some steps to do before the restore.
INF-ONL 7.24; Reliant UNIX V5.43; Networker V4.?
0, scan (networker) the backup tapes on the restore system. Maybe you have
to add the backup client on the restore system
!!! The slices for the chunks must be equal (in size) on both systems.
Create the links for the slices !!!
1, copy the $INFORMIXDIR/etc/ixbar.0, onconfig, sqlhosts, (oncfg_<backup>)
from your backup machine to your restore system. Or take it from the backup
tape.
2, give the restore system the name of the backup system (uname -S) and
reboot
3, perform the restore (onbar -r -p; onbar -r -l <#logfile> <date>)
4, give the restore system the original name (uname -S) and reboot again.
5, change the name in the onconfig and sqlhosts to the name of your restore
system
6, start with oninit
Now you should have a running system.
