System Crash

We are running a 7.23 system and today morning we got the following message : mmt.c line 2447 , thread 1255 , proc id 1044 , yield_processor : Stack overflow in thread 1255. message. The system is up but no one can connect we can't shut the system down or kill user threads. We had to reboot the whole box (HP with HPUX). Does anyone know what does it mean why it happened and what can I do to avoid that in the future. Thanks Gabi
