We are experimenting with fragmenting indexes accross multiple dbspaces and have come accross the following senario: We used the mod function to fragment a unique integer field into 4 dbspaces. We have found that when just the head piece of the index is used, online will only access the fragment he is supposed to, but when other stuff is added, say, a query that uses piece one and two of the index, online looks at all four of the dbspaces. Other than that, we are having good luck with detaching our indexes from the data dbspaces and are seeing very favorable performance results. BTW, we are running online 7.1 on a pyramid nile 150. -- Dave Proksch - DBA - ValueRx - Phone: (810) 333-8622 Fax: (810) 253-6510 email: dproksch@vrx.vhi.com snail mail: 1825 South Woodward Suite 200 Bloomfield Hills, MI 48302 USA #include <std_disclaimer.h>
