max chunk size follow-up

Thanks to all who replied regarding the maximum chunk size configurable under version 5.0. The unanimous answer was 2 Gig. Also several responders recommended partitioning the disk so that the full 9 Gig could be accessed. Unfortunately this concensus has left me even more confused. I had borrowed a 9 Gig drive and was able (I believe) to allocate a ~5.5 Gig blobspace using a blob-page size of 17 pages (page size = 2K). I'm concerned that this configuration is somehow illegal and will cause me problems as it fills (so far it's working fine). The tbspaces command I used was as follows tbspaces -c -b ispace -g 17 -p /database/rawspace1 -o 480010 -s 5674260 much larger -s parameter values produced an error message. Unfortunately I did not play with the blobpage size to see if it would allow still larger -s values. Can anyone shed some light on this? Also, to my knowledge, under HPUX 9.05 you cannot partition a disk (other than specifying a swap partition). Have I missed something? Thanks again. Osama Mawlawi
