The /etc/services includes : the service and the name : matches the name listed in INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts. I'd run od -c on services and sqlhosts, maybe there are funny characters. Are you sure it is using /etc/services? Try ypcat services. Try telnet yourmachine yourservicename. (Not localhost!) Do you get connection refused or bad port number? : And we cannot find any other services using the same port. Did you run netstat? Bye, Heribert (dahms@ifk20.mach.uni-karlsruhe.de)
