Please help. My application has been written with the Fourgen Case Tools and the 5.01.UD3 SE on a RS/6000 running AIX 3.2.5. Some of the users will be using the application as well as Q&E ODBC, INET 5.01.UD3 and MS Access for simple ad-hoc reporting. I am trying to secure the database from any unfortunate updates while a user is running MS Access. I was told by Informix that unix level file permissions over the application and database would take care of the application s data modifications and that I could grant and revoke privileges on the database/tables to users to prohibit data changes through Access, (i.e. granting Connect privileges at the database level and then granting only Select privileges to all tables). This obviously doesn't work. Solutions that I don't like would include: 1. Having multiple user ID's or a single shared user ID for the users who use Access. 2. Having a database staging area in Access where I protect the users from the actual informix tables and periodically update--once a day. Thanks in advance for the advice...
