There is no way you can use ISDN (or modems:( without tcp/ip (or some other protocol). You install TCP/IP on your PC's and on the server using the PPP or SLIP protocols. Make sure your PC software has this and that it works reliably ower the communication setup you select! You can also use one of the ODBC drivers with their own server software (Openlink or SQL Retriever). Then you don't need I-Star/I-Net. I don't know for shure, but I would guess the difference in speed isn't significant between these products and the I-Star/I-net solution. You still need TCP/IP though. (Also I-Star isn't need from ver. 6 and up of SE or OnLine, it's included.) Also be aware that there is a limit to what you can do in your programs, even using ISDN. It isn't that fast. Using modems you will be severely limited. Using NewEra instead of PowerBuilder may give you something through the option of application partitioning (but probably at a price).
