Hmmm.
After analysis, I don't think your bug *is* our problem.
Tech Support gave us a workaround for your problem, which was basically to
enable logging - apparently under this bug the index build will run more
quickly with logging enabled than not.
But in my tests, 9.40 FC1 or FC2, is no quicker nor slower with logging on
than off, and still slower with 9.21 FC4 with logging off. And 9.21 FC4
with logging on is not substantially slower than 9.21 with logging off.
Allied to the fact that the defrag with no indexes at all is also slower on
9.40 than 9.21, I think we need to find another explanation.
I have an outstanding action to provide more data for UK Tech Support, and
will continue with that.
