Re: Printing 4GL reports to printer w/ MVS host

Steve, 4gl can be made to deal with escape sequences as variables. You can programmatically determine which printer you are printing to and have your program generate the appropriate sequence. This assumes you can determine which is the appropriate sequence and that it isn't modified by some terminal server on its way to the appropriate printer. Our work in this area was based in some code written by Dennis Pimple of Informix and published by our Colorado Informix users group. Our purpose was to try to print special characters (e.g. exponentiation) properly on various printers, but it might well apply to your situation. If you have further interest in what we have done, please contact me directly. -- Con Woodall Colorado St. U.; Veterinary Teach. Hosp.; Ft.
