thx, this helped with Q1 and Q2. Q3 is resolved as well. One of the
combinations
that is setting both DB_LOCALE and CLIENT_LOCALE to en_us.utf8 in
order
to load character data encoded as UTF-8 via dbimport command had
worked fine already. I just
did not 'see' the data via my JDBC (Squirrel) client. For this I
needed to supply the properties
jdbc:informix-sqli://127.0.0.1:9088/
ace:INFORMIXSERVER=ol_ids_1150_1;CLIENT_LOCALE=en_US.CP1252;DB_LOCALE=en_us.utf8
in the connect string. This is a prerequisite I had not experienced
when I was once connecting with the same client to an Informix 9.xx
server running on UNIX some time ago...
