Where I'm from, the peak local usage hours are from 16:00 to 01:00 the next morning, and then from 03:00 to 07:00 for the serious downloaders who sleep early to catch the "supposed" trafic-less net-time. I don't know if silicon valley has the best telecommunications infrastructure in the US, but when you get tired of the waiting, do what I do -- turn off the Autoload Images option in your browser.
