Informix ontape problem

I am getting following error while performing 0 level backup using ontape command. "Archive failed - function write to tape failed code -1 errno 6." I am using INFORMIX-OnLine Version 7.31 UC4 running on SCO Unix 5.0.2 Thanks in advance for your help. Thanks, Vijay Kakad

Check the TAPEDEV configuration parameter in $ONCONFIG file, check that your tape device has been setup properly (any messages in the system log?). Can you write to the tape using 'dd' command?
