ISQL Install on IDS 10
Posted in 2006
A user installing I-SQL on top of an existing IDS 10 install on Red Hat Enterprise 4 got an unknown error 10411 when launching isql. Respondents noted 10411 isn't in the message list and pointed to install order: Informix tools must be installed before the engine (the "TEN" rule: SQL, then 4GL, then IDS, then SDK/Client SDK), with older-version packages before newer ones; some also suggested checking that the products share the same directory/environment. The fix is to shut down IDS, install I-SQL, then reinstall IDS. The poster agreed to reinstall but didn't report back.

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone could help me out. Apologies if I'm
posting in the wrong place, but I'm running IDS 10 on a Red Hat Enterprise 4
server, and have installed IDS without a problem. I'm having trouble adding
isql to the install however, dbaccess is not enough for my needs, so it is
important that I get it working.
The install seems to go through fine - I then run RUN_AS_ROOT.server which
also seems to work fine. When I try to launch isql from the command line
however, I get an error message saying that I've encountered an unknown error,
error code 10411.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Code 10411 is not in the Message List (so that doesn't help much !!).
Traditionally the tools should be installed first followed by the
Engine (or the engine reinstalled) (this may now be irrelevant but
worth considering), In which order did you install the products?
Have you installed ISQL and IDS in the same directory? If they are
separate do you have the correct environment?

Hello:
The problem is that you must install tools first the engine,
First Install sql
Then IDS.
You could shutdown IDS onmode -ky
Then install SQL and the re-install IDS.
You will not have any problem with sqlhosts and onconfig files.

Cool, thanks a lot. I had installed the engine first, and then was trying to add on the tools. I'll reinstall IDS and see how I go - thanks one and all.
