You will find that Informix tools are more flexible and practical than SQL*Forms. This will not be easy, though. Oracle's SQL contains a number of non-ANSI SQL extensions that are not included in Informix-SQL. For example, you will need to get rid of the concatination operator (|) and the DECODE function. Once you have edited the SQL statements, most of the Pro*C code should compile just fine under Informix ESQL/C. Your SQL*Forms applications will need to be re-written in Informix-4GL. You may want to use a 4GL code generator to save time. Informix now sells "Informix 4GL Forms", which is made by a company called Fourgen. Fourgen sells the product also. The look-and-feel of Oracle's SQL*Forms is different from Informix-4GL. I think that you will find it to be superior, though. I always had a hard time telling the user what "COMMIT" and "ROLLBACK" means. -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Randall Rhea Informix Software, Inc.
