Thanks for your reply nonetheless I have already run high level update
statistics on the entire database. Unfortunatly, it was without
effect.
Secondly, we always test a new version of informix on a test machine
before to upgrade in production.

Don't run update statistics high on the whole database.
You should run the commands as mentioned in the docs (high on first
index column, ...).
You may use Art Kagel's programm dostats (it's in the package named
utils2_ak at iiug).
