Informix vs. Oracle

I don't really agree with that. For example, Oracle and Informix use completely different transaction processing. If you update a row in Informix, it remains unaccessible for other users until the end of a transaction, unless using dirty read. In Oracle, during the whole transaction the old row remains accessible, being updated at commit time. The Informix solution offers somewhat better performance (data is either in the DB or inaccessible, whereas Oracle needs to look both in the DB and in the log), the Oracle solution offers better transaction independency.
