Re: insert ROW LEVEL trigger question

My manuals are at home , but here's what I remember being told: You can have a trigger for an update of a column, do an update on another column. You can not have a trigger for an update of a row, do an update on a column for that same row. This is so you don't cause an endless loop. IMHO Informix should protect itself from an endless loop. This way Every time a row is update THROUGH ANY MEANS (4gl app, isql, dbacess) audit trail fields (user_id , date, time, terminal_id) can be updated as well. Its nice to see that other people have noticed this too. I would like to see Informix address this. I believe : a feature request exists for this capability but have no idea whether : Informix intends to implement it. : Roger Tomas : AG Communication Systems
