OAT require for licence?
Posted in 2017
A user asked whether IBM's OpenAdmin Tool (OAT) and the Informix client software need a separate licence. Replies confirmed neither does: OAT is free (bundled with the engine since around 11.70, and also downloadable as a Community Edition from IBM's Informix free product download page), with support covered by the engine licence. The CSDK/iConnect client connectivity and development packages are likewise free to download and use, though vendor support for them is an optional paid add-on. Question answered.

Hi, Please advise OAT (IBM OpenAdmin Tool) requires licence. How about linformix client version software require licence? Thank you
OAT is free and doesn't require a license. The same is true for Informix CSDK. Hi OAT is part of the Informix package since 11.70 I think, so if you have this version of above, you have it included in your license. Before that, I can see this sentence in the OAT web page https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSGU8G_12.1.0/com.ibm.oat.doc/ids _oat.htm "Alternatively, the OpenAdmin Tool Community Edition is available from the IBM Informix Free Product Download page: https://www14.software.ibm.com/webapp/iwm/web/preLogin.do?lang=en_US&source=swg- informixfpd (opens in new window)." Meaning it is a free product. Hope this helps. Eric
Hi Eric, Thank you very much for your information. Yes, I have seen free product download page. *Prerequisites*: OAT, the Schema Manager plug-in, and the TimeSeries plug-in require Informix 11.10 or later. The Health Advisor plug-in requires Informix 11.50.xC7 or later. The Replication plug-in requires Informix 11.50.xC4 or later. But, no message stated that this product no licence required. No license is required for OAT and support is included in your engine license. The iConnect and CSDK client connectivity and development packages are free to download and use but support is a paid item that you can optionally purchase. Art Art S.
