RE: how do I load a CSV file into a database table ???
Posted in 1999
The following represents the contents of a command file usually ending in
.comm
FILE filename DELIMITER "," 7 ;
INSERT into tablename VALUES (f01, f02, f03, f04, f05, f06, f07) ;
The table would have columns suitably qualified as char, date, integer, etc.
(7 in this example)
You then need to use the dbload command and typically looks something like
this
dbload -d databasename -c commandfilename -l logfilename -e 1 -n 5
the number after the "e" represents how many errors must happen before the
dbload command fails. The number after the n represents the number of
records that will be reported as entered so in this case every 5 records a
report is displayed telling you of its success!
