I have Informix -SQL and Informix 4GL RDS/ID both versions are around 1.10 something. It turns out the company I now work for went outside to have a database developed. Although I had the manuals for the software all of the Appendix was removed. ALso, I never had the manuals for the 4GL. Now I would like get this system up to date. I called Informix and was told I would need 3 products Informix-SE, Informix -SQL, and Informix 4GL for Windows. I started a Maintenance Agreement and got my updates no problem. Now what do I do with the updates? I have a 486DX66 with 4MRAM and a 250 MB hard drive hooked to a Novelle file server. From what I can tell the 4gl for windows is useless to me unless I spend $1500 to upgrade the RAM and buy a C-compiler. I was not looking to develop software for a living just some slick routines for inputting data. Has any body gone through this type of upgrade? Do you have any advice on implementing this. Also, and be honest am I just stupid or what I thought I knew about computers but maybe it is my main frame background but I am just lost in informix products? Bruce Szabo
