I do this by embedding my own short codes in the 4GL report, which pipes into a filter that translates these into other things, chiefly either HP's PCL or Microsoft RTF for input into Word. The filter program is written in lex and a little C. Another possible way to do it is via RTF: you write a document in Word with placeholders where the 4GL output goes. You save this as RTF. you write an awk script to merge the 4GL output into the RTF in the right places. Then you read the massaged RTF back into Word for printing. Or you could buy a report-writing system. -- Peter Lancashire Information Systems Specialist, Bayer plc Eastern Way, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, IP32 7AH, UK Tel: +44-1635-562258, Fax: +44-1635-562281 Mail: Peter.Lancashire.PL1@bayer.co.uk --- My Internet plumbing does not allow me to mail and post news together.
