Looking for a recommendation for a 3rd party data
Posted in 2011
Topics: High Availability & Replication
Good afternoon. Aside from using Informix-to-Informix replication (HDR, ER, SDS, etc. etc.), I'm interested in a recommendation for a 3rd party replication tool to replicate / copy and entire database in Informix over to a different platform like Microsoft SQL. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Sincerely, Jonathan B. One option, assuming 11.50 or later, is to use the Change Data Capture (CDC)
API to capture changes to the database and then apply them to the copy in
SQL Server. The initial migration you will have to do using dbexport and
whatever he equivalent SQL Server import or ETL tool is.
IBM has a product for this called SyncML. Microsoft's version is MSDN.
WisdomForce has DatabaseSync.

Hi, Take a look at IBM Infosphere Change Data Capture, aka CDC. CDC provides heterogeneous replication among the major RDBMS products. It's very good, and it understands things like date format differences so you don't have to do anything. This isn't a recommendation because I've never tried the software, but Golden Gate has something that supposedly does this. j. We have successfully used Hit Software's DBMOTO to replicate from Informix to SQL Server.
