The recommendation is to use Java with the engine, provided we ever SEE the engine that supports it, Universal Server. Informix people mentioned they did not want to improve the SPL language in light of the ORDBMS world we're all anxiously waiting for, and IUS. There's also a mention in one of the white papers at informix.com about the benefits of in-engine processing as opposed to ORBs, which is what Visigenics is all about, and Roger, who I believe is head of them. Informix just made a big partnership with Visigenics too. Very interesting.
