Mandy asks: >What is the best way to reogranize a database in ODS 7.22? Any >suggestions/comments are welcome. The best way is such that the result is tailored for your application's I/O needs, simple to administer, and prepared for the expected growth of the system, all done with the minimum downtime. ;) For a more detailed answer, please be more specific. Include details such as whether you mean the structure of the tables with the *database* or the layout of the data in the *instance*. Also list your needs and priorities, such as time to perform the re-org, goals of the project, measurable factors by which to judge its success, and plans for alternative actions should some part of it not work. I think you'll find that after asking these questions of yourself and the project team you'll know how to find the answers already. You can find some helpful information in the many texts available, such as Joe Lumbley's wonderful book, Liz Suto's "bible", and (of course) the ubiquitous F...riendly Manual. Pointers to these and many other books are at http://www.iiug.org . ___________________________________________________________ Clem Akins (aka clem@informix.com) Informix Software, Inc (Standard disclaimers apply) International Technical Support Last seen: Bound for the IIUG Board meeting in San Francisco
