SCO client setup with INFORMIX 6.0 server
Posted in 1996
I have INFORMIX Online Dynamic Server 6.0 running on ALPHA 2100, and I'm trying to setup a SCO Unix client without luck. ESQL/C 7.1 is installed on the SCO box. I've copied my services & sqlhosts files from the ALPHA to SCO box, so the service name & port number are identical. I have the following questions: 1. The error I get is on a database connect (i.e.- $connect to 'dbname@dbservername') and the error is +25507. 25507 The specified service name or protocol is unknown. The database administrator should check the sqlhosts file entry. If you are using the TCP protocol, make sure the service name appears in the /etc/services file and is correct. (If you are using NFS, use ypmake to check /etc/services.) If this service name was added after a default boot, it might not be recognized by the daemon. Is there any other setup files that I need to look at on SCO? 2. Will ESQL/C version 7.1 work with Online 6.0? I've double-checked the services & sqlhosts files. The nettype I'm using is TCP/IP (soctcp). The setup is the same as other Windows clients, and they work fine. Please reply to this article with answers/suggestions or e-mail me at kevlf@aol.com. Thanks in advance, Kevin Fortenberry
