This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Mark Scranton asked whether the number of light append buffers can be increased; he saw only 4 during express loads with external tables. Andreas Legner said the count is hard-coded at 4. Fernando Nunes suggested loopback ER as a way to reorganise very large tables if space allows, which Mark said he would look into.

I thought back in the day we could increase the number of light append buffers. Anyone recall that option? I get 4 buffers know matter how any threads are running or fragments involved in source or target.
Thanks!

"
Light Append Buffers" ?
Where would you see those? What are you doing, what do you need?

Andreas -
Using the ploader (external tables) for bulk loads, etc. During an express load onstat -g lap shows the light appends and the buffer count. Have a very large reorg coming up and just turning knobs for tuning if possible on smaller tests. Do you know what factors determine the light append buffer count and size? I may be wrong about being able to change these settings - just can't remember back from the XPS days.

Depending on the version you're using, loopback ER seems a very nice way to reorg tables.... if you can spare the space.
No real life experience with is at this moment...
Regards.

Thanks Fernando. Appreciate it. Will dig into it as an option. Sounds very possible.
