We have Informix 7.12 on a server host and 6.0 on a client host. We have two dedicated hosts for database servers because we are using Informix data replication. One database server, the primary server resides on one host and the second database server resides on the second host. When the primary database server fails, the secondary server will take over and switch to the On-Line mode. Clients connected to the primary server and executing any sql statements will receive sqlerror. At this point, clients should try to close old connection and establish a new connection with the paired database server. I noticed that when a host on which the primary server resides experiences h/w problems and has to be powered off for maintenece reasons, clients will never return form "connect", "disconnect", "rollback" etc statements I have tried unsuccesfully to use SIGALRM to achieve some control over client behaviour. My conclusion was the following: - Informix is using SIGALRM and probably is overwriting my signal handler. - sqlbreakcallback is not implemented in 6.0 Did anybody have a similar problem? What I should do to force a client to return from "connect", "disconnect", "rollback" etc statements? Answers and suggestions will be greatly appretiated. Thanks, Irena Bartkowska irena@bnr.ca(BNR400)
