IP number change for iiug.org

The IP number for the IIUG home system iiug.org will change today, December 19, 1997, at 2:00 PM CST in the US (20:00 GMT). The new number will be "206.175.175.254". For reference, the current one is "204.167.252.80". If you have difficulty reaching that system using one of its host names like "www.iiug.org", try substituting the IP number where you would normally put the host name. Our name cacheing parameters were adjusted some time earlier so that this change should propagate across the Net relatively quickly. By Monday morning certainly, the change should be transparent to all users. If at that time you can't reach iiug.org using the host name but are successful using the new IP number, check with your system administrator to see if the IP number for iiug.org has been installed in your local system's network configuration data. This is sometimes done for various reasons and is the kind of thing that is easily forgotten. If you need more information about your particular network set-up, check with your system administrator. I would especially suggest your doing this if you access the Internet through a firewall.
