RE: SIS: Talk about a shift in partners...

Get a grip? LOL... Your comment actually demonstrates my point completely. Oracle doesn't sell hardware so if they push a hardware deal and possibly some services to IBM, there's going to be a quid pro quo. That infact does hurt IBM's IM since the Client rep is only interested in the bottom line and they're making money by partnering with Oracle and they are closing a competitor out of a deal. This also gives them the opportunity to upsell/cross sell other products. Again, in this respect, a Client rep will be unwilling to talk about DB2 or even IDS (if they knew it existed) because they didn't want to upset the client's Oracle choice. Also they don't want to upset the possibility of more service revenue or other SWG pillars. And the next time there's a customer, the Client rep will return the favor. Is the glass half full or half empty? It depends. Are you looking at the top or the bottom of the miniscis? And are you worried about running out of water or not? :-P -G > Date: Fri, 22 Aug 2008 18:59:31 +0100> From: obnoxio@serendipita.com> To: informix-list@iiug.org> Subject: Re: SIS: Talk about a shift in partners...> > Ian Michael Gumby wrote:> > On Aug 22, 10:31 am, Jerry Hamilton <bigdaddyje...@yahoo.com> wrote:> > > >> dunno who's in bed with who but...> >>> >> Oracle has done a great job of in recent months certifying IDS with PeopleSoft.> >>> >> Oracle plans to certify FIN 9.0 on IDS 11.1 in the next couple of months and IDS 11.5 by the end of the year.> >>> >> These IDS / PS certifications have generally been a major pain in the rear in recent years.
