ESQL/C & Multi Threaded Java Code

Does anyone have experience of (and could point me at some kind of reference for) using ESQL/C in a multi threaded Java application accessing the DB via JNI calls to an ESCL/C shared library. Basically, how do we make the shared library "Thread Safe" for java. Platform is Solaris 2.6, target Java VM is 1.2 (so the native Solaris threads should be used, not Green ones) Please - no posting to the effect of "why on earth would you want to do THAT" and prasing the merits of JDBC or any other access method - we HAVE to do this for a customer, so I'd like to find out how!
