IDS 10 on IBM z-series

We are going to attempt to install Informix 10.00 on a IBM 390 (z-series) in a SUSE Linux partition. Has anyone done this and what problems if any encountered. Output from uname -a below Linux 2.6.5-7.97-s390x #1 SMP Fri Jul 2 14:21:59 UTC 2004 s390x s390x s390x GNU/Linux What SUSE libraries do we need? Thanks in advance for input --Bob

We were going to do the same thing, but decided instead to just use Linux on an Intel box. We discovered the disk space required for us to move to z-series was going to be cost prohibitive. Using intel bases Linux provided us with an average of 50% gains over running Informix on Windows. This install would be to replace our sun E6500 Server that is running 7.31UD4 on it. There is a 4TB limit on the 7.31 release. We have 1025 2GB chunks in 27 dbspaces. I'm not sure that an intel based system would/could support this instance Thanks, --Bob

Hi Bob, You should NOT have any issues at all. No special libraries are needed.
