Re: DO NOT BUY INFORMIX STOCKS

1. Right now is a good time to buy database stocks since most of them have not been doing too well and are at low prices (remember, buy low, sell high?). But, they are not expected to rebound anytime soon, so you have plenty of time (maybe even a few years). 2. Nasty language is not necessary to defend or complain about vendors, software, or hardware. It only proves a Neanderthal intelligence level. (Yes, you might have to look up the word)! Also, nasty language it is against most internet providers' policy! 3. I've worked with numerous database vendors (DB2, Sybase, Oracle, Informix)... and they all have their faults. As with all those database vendors, initial support usually consists of new hires in training who will answer the majority of "how do I put a tape into a tape drive?" questions; and, they should then escalate the harder questions to a more experienced technician. If they do not (again, I've experienced this with all vendors), you are getting paid the big bucks to make certain that it is escalated and that you are persistent in getting a resolution. 4. If you wish to whine, please do it in some other forum. This is for technical people who understand that frustrations and problems are part of their job; and they would rather spend their time seeking solutions instead of whining. If you don't like getting paid better than a McDonald's drive-thru employee to sit all day in an air-conditioned environment drinking coffee and staring at a computer screen; then, please send your resume to McDonald's. I believe they are still hiring.
